Doula Support in London
Amisha the birthworker
As a doula in London, I offer pregnant women and people support during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
About me
My name is Amisha (they/she). I trained as a doula with Abuela Doulas after hearing about the disparities that Black and brown women and people face during pregnancy and birth.
I am passionate about bodily autonomy and informed consent, ensuring that every pregnant woman and person has all the information they need to make choices that are right for them.
As a doula I will be by your side to advocate for your wishes and make sure that your voice is heard.

Why hire a doula?
As a doula, I provide continuous emotional, physical and educational support throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum. This differs from NHS Maternity & Perinatal Care where you will see be under the care of various healthcare professionals and will likely give birth with a midwife you have never met before.
Continuous perinatal support
Doulas stand in the gap
We bridge the gap between expectant parents and healthcare professionals to give pregnant women and people the affirmation and care they deserve.
Personalised care
As a doula, I will get to know you personally and help you develop trust in your body and your decisions. Despite what others may tell you, you are the number one expert in your body.
My commitment
Throughout my doula career, I have supported various types of births ranging from ‘hands off’ homebirths to gentle elective caesareans (or belly births). I will support your choice however, wherever and with whoever you chose to birth with. I have also supported those who make choices that fall ‘out of guidelines’ and work alongside their midwifery/obstetric team to create a personalised care plan.
Today, a lot of the issues pregnant women and people face when navigating the healthcare system stem from anxieties due to lack of information and lack of support. As a doula, I will help to foster a sense of agency that is often not prioritised. I do this by working collaboratively with you to explore your birth preferences and help you to understand your rights. Together we will develop the tools you need to advocate for yourself and I will step in when you cannot.
My birthwork practice extends to the postpartum period, ensuring that have you have personal autonomy over your own reproductive decisions and the ability to parent in a safe, sustainable environment.
